Joy At Work – 7 Ways Find Joy And Peace At Work

How do you find joy at work? Work is after all what it means. Work. It’s not supposed to be fun?

Yet, we all strive to bring some joy to work. I am making a huge assumption that you are not one of those who do what he loves and hence you are not working a day of your life.

For the rest, I know how you feel. Sometimes you even dread work. So, how do you find some joy at work?

1. Making The World Better
Wow, really? You? Yes, you. You need not drop your work; you can start by taking little steps, like joining an international help organization in order to make the world a better place. And you can start right at work.

Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” How? Use work as a place to train you to be a better person. No patience? Use work to train you. Bad temper? Use work and colleagues as a teacher. If you are mindful about what can offer in terms of self-improvement, you will find joy at work.

2. Think Like The Boss
You are not likely to find joy at work because you keep thinking like an employee. Once you start to think like the boss you will take initiatives to save the company money. You will start to empathize with the manager as well as whoever that is trying to deliver to the company’s goals. That way you will not be antagonistic to the decisions the company makes. With less stress you will likely find joy at work.

3.Work For The Money
And more. Sure, we all work for the money but the money cannot be the end all and be all. Work allows us to fulfill certain dreams as well. It can challenge us to be the best that we can be; it allows us to contribute to society and the economy. You need to understand and dig the meaning work brings to you. Then you will start to find joy at work.

4. Get To Know People
Sometimes the disconnect at work causes stress and joy is hard to find. It may be because we fail to connect with people and allow people into our circle. Try getting to know more friends and be a little more authentic and personable. You may even find yourself looking forward to work when you have more friends at work.

5. Gratitude And Forgiveness
Have a sense of gratitude for what you have and enjoy because of your work. Be thankful that it provides for you and your family. Do not take small things like that for granted. Even if you do not believe in any religion, showing gratitude shows you are truly blessed. That way you can feel joy at work.

At times, we may catch ourselves with misunderstanding in the office. We bear grudges because we have been wronged. But if you find the forgiveness in your heart, you will see how much weight you have let go. Regardless of what action the other party takes. You would find you become happier at work.

6. Bad May Not Be Bad, Good May Not Be Good
Let’s say bad things happens to us, do not label it as bad instantaneously. Time will reveal whether things are bad or good. At the moment it happens, it is hard to tell - as one thing leads to another. Eventually it may lead to something that is better. Learn not to label anything that happens in the office. It happens because it has to happen and there is no good or bad. That is why sometimes you hear people say, “Getting fired was the best thing that happened to me.”

7. Contentment As Progress
Be contented with what you have. Does it mean I am asking you not to strive for the promotion? No. Does it mean I am asking you not to work for the raise? No. What I am saying is learn to know that the here and now is real. The past is gone and the future is yet to come. Be happy with the now and the future will take care of itself. Your plans will fall in place if you are contented with what is happening now.

Can you find joy at work? Sure you can. Work does not have to be a dread and work does not have to be work. It can be a source of learning to be a better person as well.
